Robert Benchley – resident of the Garden of Allah Hotel
Humorist and critic and one of the original members of the famed Algonquin Round Table in New York, Robert Benchley, was one of the Garden of Allah’s most frequent residents. He always stayed at the Garden whenever he was in Hollywood, which was often. He became noted for his “How to” shorts, such as ‘How to train your dog”, “How to vote”, and especially “How to Sleep” for which he won an Oscar.
