Hugh Williams – resident of the Garden of Allah Hotel
British actor Hugh Williams lived at the Garden of Allah where he lived at villa #10 (next door to Margaret Sullavan) from November 1933 to early 1935 while he was under contract at 20th Century Fox. He was good friends with fellow residents Charles Laughton & Elsa Lanchester, and attended a weekly poker game with William Powell, and fellow resident Ronald Colman. In 1938 he filmed the role for which is best remembered: Hindley Earnshaw in “Wuthering Heights” opposite Lawrence Olivier.
