Marshall "Mickey" Neilan - resident of the Garden of Allah Hotel

Marshall “Mickey” Neilan was originally an actor in the earliest days of the silents but became a top director for Goldwyn Pictures, directed a small number for a pre-MGM Louis B. Mayer, then directed Mary Pickford in several productions including “Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm” and “The Little Princess” in 1917. He became the most famous silent movies director before D.W. Griffith however he didn’t survive the transition to sound and ended working as an extra in the talkies. He lived at the Garden of Allah in the late 1920s.
