H. B. Warner – resident of the Garden of Allah Hotel
British born H.B. Warner attended the opening night party of the Garden of Allah, and according to Sheila Graham’s book, later became a resident. His began his acting career in silent films in 1914 and worked on dozens of silents including the role of Jesus Christ in DeMille’s “The King of Kings” (1927). He easily made the transition to sound and appeared in “A Tale of Two Cities” (1935), “Mr. Deeds Goes to Town” (1936), “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” (1939), “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946), “The Ten Commandments” (1956) to name just a few.
