On November 13th, 1906 Alla Nazimova made her Broadway debut in the title role of Hedda Gabler at the Princess Theatre. A major interpreter of Ibsen’s female central characters for three decades, she’ll play Hedda a total of four times on Broadway, and inspire two generations of actresses.
